A bold vision to create one of the UK’s most significant growth corridors has been showcased today at the UK’s biggest investment showcase, UKREiiF.

The Trent Arc stretches from Derby to Nottingham, linking existing communities with new neighbourhoods and regeneration sites.

What does Trent Arc mean for local people?

The Trent Arc has the potential to deliver transformational benefits for the people who live, work, and study in the area, including:

  • More than 30,000 new homes
  • More than 40,000 new jobs
  • £2.4 billion added to the local economy
  • 7 million square metres of commercial floorspace
  • Better transport links, walking and cycling routes, and public transport
  • Investment in parks and green spaces

The vision for Trent Arc focuses on creating greener and better-connected communities, with the opportunities to thrive.

Building on the region’s strengths

The Trent Arc brings together some of the region’s strongest investment opportunities – including the Infinity Park East Midlands Investment Zone site and the East Midlands Freeport.

The former power stations at Ratcliffe-on-Soar and Willington also have the potential to be reimagined into clean energy hubs.

Together, these sites are creating high-quality jobs and training opportunities for local people, and positioning our region at the forefront of innovative industries.

Already delivering, with more to come

Since the East Midlands Vision for Growth was launched last year, progress has already been made on developments across the Trent Arc.

In Nottingham, the demolition of the former shopping centre at Broad Marsh has been supported with £3.4m of funding from Mayor Claire Ward, with works already underway. New homes are being built outside of the city centre at the Nottingham War Rooms development, thanks to the Brownfield Housing Fund.

Meanwhile in Derby, the Team Derby partnership is backed by £10m of Government funding to support the city’s growth. The Infinity Prototyping Centre has received £1.5m of funding from EMCCA’s investment fund to kickstart a new era of research and innovation in advanced manufacturing and clean energy.

A vision for the future

The Trent Arc offers a unique opportunity to work with partners to deliver coordinated and shared vision to grow and regenerate the East Midlands.
