Trent Arc
The Trent Arc aims to create a vibrant, sustainable urban corridor linking Derby and Nottingham, supporting innovation, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
The East Midlands Vision for Growth sets out the region’s bold plan which will transform the region. Delivery of the vision will create 100,000 new jobs, deliver 52,000 new homes, and add £4 billion to the economy.
Our vision sets out a clear direction for the region and establishes long-term objectives that will make the East Midlands an even greater place to live, work, and visit.
The plan focuses on six key areas where there are opportunities for growth, across the region’s cities, towns, villages, and natural spaces.
Let us introduce you to the future of the region.
The Trent Arc aims to create a vibrant, sustainable urban corridor linking Derby and Nottingham, supporting innovation, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
The Trent Supercluster is a major regeneration programme in Nottinghamshire, transforming three former coal sites into a globally significant clean energy and technology destination.
Using the Chesterfield Canal, this corridor connects Chesterfield Station and East Midlands Investment Zone sites to the Supercluster, unlocking business growth, boosting the visitor economy, and supporting the workforce and infrastructure needed for expansion.
The Peak District and Derbyshire Dales are renowned for stunning landscapes, from rolling hills and limestone dales to picturesque villages. Our strategy seeks to build upon these fantastic assets and broaden the visitor offer. We want to work with partners, investors and developers to shape our future strategy for the Peaks and Dales.
The Heartlands sit at the centre of the region and encompass former mining communities in towns and small villages scattered across picturesque countryside. A “Heartlands Process”, based on community engagement, will identify relevant approaches for specific places.
The Derwent Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich industrial legacy, offers major regeneration potential. Building on its strong transport links and visitor appeal, it presents an opportunity to create distinctive homes, creative workspaces and new attractions, securing its long term future through partnership.
We are now looking for potential partners to support the delivery of the East Midlands Vision for Growth. Our current focus is on the Trent Arc, Canal Corridor, and Supercluster. We are also working with partners to develop deliverable plans for the Peaks and Dales, Heartlands, and Derwent Valley Mills.
