Demolition contractor appointed as Broad Marsh transformation gathers pace

Homes England has appointed DSM Demolition as its demolition contractor for the former College site and the NCP car park at Broad Marsh, marking the next major step in preparing Nottingham’s biggest regeneration site for redevelopment.

The appointment means demolition activity will soon be underway across all three parts of the Broad Marsh site. Work to bring down the former shopping centre is already well advanced, and DSM Demolition will begin demolition of the redundant buildings on the former College site and the NCP car park in Autumn 2026

Midlands-based DSM Demolition is one of the UK’s leading demolition specialists, with almost 40 years’ experience delivering complex city centre projects. DSM has a history of delivering schemes in Nottingham safely and on time, including the Boots Campus at Beeston.

The company has committed to generating local jobs through the demolition process, and they have also committed to keeping local people informed as the works progress. The demolition works on both are due to complete by mid-2027.

The demolition programme is a vital step in clearing the way for the once-in-a-generation transformation of Broad Marsh, which will create new homes, workspaces and public spaces in the heart of the city. It builds on the progress already made around the site, including the new Nottingham College hub, Central Library, bus station and the Green Heart public realm, and comes as Homes England continues its search for a development partner and brings forward meanwhile uses to activate the site.
