The Transport Strategy

As the Local Transport Authority, EMCCA has the responsibility for developing a single long term transport strategy in the form of an area wide Local Transport Plan (LTP) which is a key statutory document.

We are working with the Constituent Authorities to develop the LTP. Once adopted, the LTP will replace the four transport plans with a single, integrated plan.

The LTP is part of the initial round of strategy and policy development for EMCCA that will feed into the overarching regional strategy. It will use EMCCA’s new powers, strategies, plans, investment, and influence to integrate social, environmental, and economic initiatives to promote positive change.

The purpose of the LTP is to set out the future plans for transport services and investment. It will inform and shape decisions for the future of travel in the EMCCA region.

Work to develop the LTP is ongoing in partnership with the four constituent authorities. This strategy will require consultation with stakeholders and the public to understand how they feel about transport issues in the region, to obtain their feedback on the emerging document and to help build consensus. More information about the formal consultation will be published soon.
