Be part of the Tour de France Grand Depart 2027 volunteer team

Residents across the East Midlands are being encouraged to play their part in one of the world’s biggest sporting events as the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift comes through our region in 2027.

The race will pass through parts of Derbyshire and the Peak District, giving communities across the East Midlands a chance to be part of a truly historic moment. With thousands of spectators expected to line the route, it is a fantastic opportunity for residents to show their support, celebrate our region on a global stage and get involved as volunteers.

Organisers have launched a nationwide call for volunteers, known as JOY Makers, who will help bring the event to life and create a warm welcome for riders, visitors and fans, the search is on to find 9,000 volunteers. No previous volunteering experience is needed, and a range of roles will be available to help support the smooth running of the event and enhance the spectator experience.

For the East Midlands, the race is about much more than sport. It is a chance to showcase the beauty of our towns, villages and landscapes, highlight the pride of our communities, and encourage more people to come together and be part of something amazing.

As Mayor Claire Ward has already said, having the race through the Peak District is a fantastic moment for the region and one that will put the East Midlands in the spotlight.

Volunteering is a great way for local people to get involved first-hand, gain new skills, meet new people and help create a memorable experience for everyone visiting the region. It is also a chance for communities to show the warm welcome the East Midlands is known for, while helping to build excitement ahead of the event.
