Youth Guarantee Trailblazer

What is the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer?

The EMCCA Youth Guarantee Trailblazer is an initiative designed to help young people across our region move confidently into education, employment, or training. Our goal is to make sure no young person in Derbyshire (including Derby City) and Nottinghamshire (including Nottingham City) misses an opportunity to progress because of barriers that can be removed with the right support.

What does this mean for you?

Are you 18–21 and trying to figure out your next steps? The EMCCA Youth Guarantee is here to help you move into work, training, or further education—whatever’s right for you.

We know that life doesn’t always follow a straight path. Things like health issues, confidence, money worries, or lack of support can make it harder to find the right opportunities. That’s why this programme brings together colleges, local councils, employers, and support teams to give you the help you need, when you need it.

What the programme offers

Transitions support for young people navigating post‑16 education, training, and employment

The Transition Support programmes are here to help 18–21‑year‑olds who may be finding it difficult to stay in learning or who need support after finishing school, college, or training.

We help young people build confidence, improve their well-being, get personalised advice, and find real opportunities that can lead to further learning, training, or work.

What you can get support with:

  • 1‑to‑1 support from a key worker who gets to know you and helps you plan your next steps
  • Mental health and wellbeing support to help you feel more confident and prepared
  • Activities to build confidence and develop new skills
  • Careers and training guidance to help you understand your options and decide what’s right for you
Tailored Support for those facing extra challenges

Many young people experience personal challenges that make it harder to take part in education, employment or training.

These tailored support programmes are here to help. They focus on building confidence, resilience and essential life skills. You can also get access to targeted support to help young people overcome social, personal and health‑related barriers.

Through these programmes, young people can explore their options, take positive next steps, and stay engaged in opportunities that match their needs and aspirations.

These programmes support:

  • Young people to feel empowered and upskilled so they can proactively engage in work
  • Young people with their personal development
  • Care leavers & young people with SEND to gain work placements and employment opportunities
  • Young peoples mental health and anxiety
  • Young people to overcome practical challenges that are barriers to learning or working, including homelessness and other complex personal circumstances
