Employers
How we support employers.
In partnership with The Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC), a national leader in careers education, we implement a shared vision of excellence in career guidance. The EMCCA Careers Hub supports institutions in achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance, equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to navigate their education and career pathways effectively.
By fostering collaboration with schools, employers, and local authorities, we contribute to the region’s skills network, addressing local strengths and challenges while inspiring students to reach their full potential. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our communities.
The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Careers Hub supports over 250 education settings across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire – including 175 secondary schools and colleges and 84 primary schools. We work with primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, SEND schools, pupil referral units (PRUs), and alternative provision institutions to enhance careers education and ensure that young people from age 3 to 18 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs) can successfully transition to their best next steps.
We provide strategic support to Careers Leaders and senior leadership teams to drive inclusive, high-quality provision that aligns with regional economic priorities. The Hub acts as a vital bridge between education and employment, empowering young people to explore opportunities, develop skills, and access meaningful experiences that prepare them for the future.
Our commitment to inclusion is reflected in our support for children and young people with SEND from age 3 to 25. We work closely with schools, colleges, and partners to ensure pathways are accessible, tailored, and ambitious for all learners.
The EMCCA Careers Hub plays an instrumental role in early years careers education. As part of the Start Small, Dream Big pilot programme, we engaged 84 primary schools and nurseries across the region and saw significant benefits for early career learning. We continue to support primary schools through regular insights and resources and remain focused on strengthening career education from the very start of a young person’s journey.
