The EMCCA Regulations 2024 conferred various powers and functions on the authority to manage transport related funds. These powers enable EMCCA to allocate, distribute and oversee the effective use of funds for regional transport initiatives, ensuring coordinated investment and improved transport services across the region.

Significant funding is being brought to the EMCCA region in addition to the annual Highways Maintenance and Integrated Transport Block awards. This includes awards for Active Travel and the Bus Grant. As a Mayoral Combined Authority, EMCCA is also eligible to substantial funding from the Transport for City Regions (TCR) settlement. This is a consolidated fund from the DfT awarded exclusively to the Combined Authorities in England.
