Public Sector Challenge – Peak Pursuit is taking place in the heart of the East Midlands

Peak Pursuit

The Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, and her Chief Executive at East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA), Amy Harhoff, are donning their walking boots to raise funds for charity.

They will be heading to a gem of the East Midlands, the Peak District to take part in the Public Sector Challenge – Peak Pursuit. This exciting event, taking place in September 2025, isn’t just about the physical challenge, it’s about raising funds that will change lives.

We’re proud that both the Mayor and CEO of the EMCCA will be taking part in this year’s event, raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation. Plus, it’s great to have this year’s challenge in the Peak District, which has some of the most stunning walks in the country.

This a major fundraising challenge that people from all over the country take part in. It began in 2023, and they have already raised an incredible £243,868 for charity. But the goal is to reach £1 million by 2028.

In a joint statement, Mayor Claire Ward and Chief Executive Amy Harhoff said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be taking part in the Public Sector Challenge – Peak Pursuit right here in the East Midlands. This isn’t just about lacing up our walking boots – it’s about stepping up for causes that touch so many lives. Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation do extraordinary work, and we’re committed to helping them reach even more people through this effort.

“The Peak District is one of the great treasures of our region, and it’s the perfect setting for this year’s challenge. We hope our participation inspires others across the country to get involved, raise funds, and push toward that £1 million goal by 2028. Together, we can make a real difference.”
