Mayor Claire was the guest of honour at the National Tramway Museum in Crich, Derbyshire, officially opening their new café before being treated to a tour of the museum exhibits and the workshops where staff and volunteers restore and conserve heritage trams.
The event was attended by local visitor economy leaders and dignitaries from across Derbyshire. The museum, one of the largest in the region, welcomed over 100,000 visitors in 2024.
Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward said: “I was honoured to be invited to officially open the new café development at the Crich Tramway Museum. This site has so much to offer to visitors of all ages, and is one of the gems of the region. I was also delighted to meet with the dedicated staff and volunteers who work to preserve and promote our transport heritage. Promoting our visitor economy is a priority for me and it was a real pleasure to experience the warm welcome and true enthusiasm shown at this wonderful museum.”
