Mayor Claire Ward sets out how the region is irresistible to investment on Day 2 of UKREiiF

Some of the East Midland’s biggest regeneration opportunities have been spotlighted on day two of the UK’s largest real estate and investment exhibition’s, UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF). 

During the packed programme, Mayor Claire Ward revealed the ground-breaking potential for the region with the new East Midlands Vision for Growth to more than 200 investors. The presentation set out how Mayor Claire will unlock a series of landmark investment opportunities in the heart of the UK. Find out more about the bold vision here. 

Over at the East Midlands pavilion, Invest in Nottingham led an exclusive discussion on what the future looks like for one of the most crucial developments in the UK – Nottingham’s city centre regeneration.  

Mayor Claire was then joined by experts to showcase why the region is the prime destination for investment. Both the East Midlands Freeport and East Midlands Investment Zone (EMIZ) offer tax incentives, world-class infrastructure, and innovation support. East Midlands Airport also unveiled plans that could create more than 20,000 jobs by making land around its runway available for development.

Derbyshire’s rich industrial past that has put the county at the forefront of heritage-led development was spotlighted this afternoon. Derbyshire County Council explored the projects that are leading the way in using historical buildings as spaces to live, work, and visit. 

Finally, the Supercluster, one of the most exciting plans for energy-based place-making, was introduced by Mayor Claire. Catalysed by the UK Industrial Fusion Solutions STEP Fusion programme, three former coal-fired power stations in North Nottinghamshire are set for redevelopment to attract innovative clean energy organisations to the region.
