Three businesses are welcoming the new year in new premises after securing High Street Fit Out funding from Bassetlaw District Council backed by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA).
Treat Yourself and CH Lettings, both in Retford, and Worksop-based Bistro U Budynia received a share of £20,000 to spend on improvements including new flooring, decorating, signage and equipment.
The funding has come from the council’s High Street Shop Fit Out grants, which support new businesses with structural works or equipment needed to trade from currently vacant premises within town centres.

Piotr and Anna, owners of Bistro U Budynia, said: “The Shop Fit Out Grant we received has made a positive impact in helping us open our new cafe on Bridge Street.
“The money helped us with decorating and equipment for our new premises, and we look forward to welcoming new customers in the year ahead.”
The Shop Fit Out Grants have been supported by EMCCA, with funding provided by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Applications are still open for Bassetlaw businesses to apply for High Street Fit Out Grants, with a deadline of 31 January 2026. Click here to find out more.
Councillor Charles Adams, council Cabinet Member for Business and Skills, said: “We are pleased these businesses have been benefiting from our High Street Fit Out grants and we wish them every success with their new venture.
“Providing grants such as these is just one way to attract new businesses to our high streets, encourage new investment, create opportunities, as well as reducing the number of vacant properties on our high streets.”
