East Midlands Combined County Authority made a powerful statement on Day 1 of UKREiiF 2025, unveiling a bold regional spatial vision, major investment opportunities, and transformative development plans at the East Midlands Pavilion in Leeds.
The day began with a keynote session led by Mayor of the East Midlands Claire Ward which welcomed those in attendance to the innovation, growth and opportunity available in the East Midlands. Mayor Claire outlined the region’s forward-looking strategy powered by seven growth plans and significant development potential. The session highlighted the East Midlands’ leadership in clean energy innovation and its growing position as a national investment hub.
At midday, attention turned to The Trent Arc’s role in the future of the East Midlands. This panel session presented one of the region’s most ambitious initiatives, aiming to connect Nottingham and Derby through the Trent Arc corridor. With proposals for 30,000 new homes and 2.7 million square feet of commercial space, the vision includes key growth around East Midlands Parkway, Infinity Park Investment Zone, East Midlands Freeport, and redevelopment of former power station sites.
Derby City Council and Marketing Derby unveiled the new Derby City Centre Office Prospectus, showcasing the city’s emergence as a major destination for office occupiers. The concise launch provided insight into Derby’s ongoing urban transformation and investment readiness.
Later in the afternoon, Destination Chesterfield and Chesterfield Borough Council introduced the Chesterfield Investment Map, providing investors and stakeholders with a detailed view of current and future opportunities across the borough. Attendees had the opportunity to network with local leaders including Councillor Tricia Gilby and Andrew Byrne and engage with members of the Chesterfield Property and Construction Group.
The day concluded with a reception focused on visiting the East Midlands, offering a relaxed networking environment where guests discovered more about the region’s lifestyle appeal, rich heritage, and world-class amenities – reinforcing the East Midlands as a prime place to live, work and invest.
