Mayor takes a trip on ‘brilliant’ £3 festive bus to Clumber Park

A special bus service taking people to popular festive destination Clumber Park has been hailed as “brilliant”.

Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward tried the service, which is taking visitors from Worksop to the National Trust site over the festival period.

The service, run in partnership with Stagecoach East Midlands and Nottinghamshire County Council has been running every weekend – with extra services over the Christmas holiday – and even offers cut-price entry to the estate.

Mayor Claire said: “I tried it myself and it was brilliant! There’s so much to do and see at Clumber.”

The service is scheduled to pick up at Worksop Train Station, Worksop Bus Station and Manton Depots before the short trip to Clumber Park for just £3 return – which includes entry into the park.

The National Trust said the service is “making it easier than ever for families, visitors without cars, and anyone seeking an accessible day out to enjoy Clumber Park this festive season”.

Tickets are free for National Trust members and under-fives. Non-members will pay £3 return which includes free admission into the park – normal park admission is £6 for adults and £3 for children.

The service runs today, Christmas Eve, and 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 December , as well as 2, 3 and 4 January. There is no service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.

Timetable

The first service departs Worksop Train Station at 9.40am, Worksop Bus Station at 9.45am and Manton Depots at 9.55am and is due to arrive at Clumber Park at 10.10am.

The second service runs two hours later, departing Worksop Train Station at 11.40am, Worksop Bus Station at 11.45am and Manton Depots at 11.55am, and is due to arrive at Clumber Park at 12.10pm.

The first return service departs Clumber Park at 2pm, setting down at Manton Depots at 2.15pm, Worksop Bus Station at 2.25pm and Worksop Train Station at 2.30pm.

The other return service operates two hours later, leaving Clumber Park at 4pm, to set down at Manton Depots at 4.15pm, Worksop Bus Station at 4.25pm and Worksop Train Station at 4.30pm.

What to see at Clumber Park this Christmas

A National Trust spokesperson said: “With crisp winter walks, lakeside views, warming treats from the café and a host of Christmas activities and events, visitors will have plenty to enjoy when they arrive.

“This year marks the first-ever The Elf on the Shelf sculpture trail, in collaboration with Wild in Art and The Lumistella Company. For the first time, the much-loved family Christmas tradition has been transformed into a spectacular outdoor experience.

“Twelve giant Elf sculptures are hiding throughout the park, ready to spark wonder, joy and festive family moments. With each Scout Elf waiting to be found, the trail invites visitors of all ages to spend time in nature and enjoy a heart-warming seasonal adventure.”

Big Transport Conversation

The special bus service comes in the midst of Mayor Claire’s Big Transport Conversation, asking local people for their views on how to make transport in the East Midlands easier to use, cleaner, and better connected. 

Buses are a key focus, with plans to make services more reliable, affordable, and accessible, while improving stops and routes to better connect communities. The 15-year vision also tackles congestion, air pollution, and safer, greener travel, ensuring everyone in the East Midlands has easy, reliable ways to get around by 2040.
